🙋 “Tell Me About Yourself” Answer Builder
It's the first question in almost every interview, and it sets the tone. Fill in a few details and get three ready answers — a 30-second elevator pitch, a 1-minute standard answer and a 2-minute detailed version. Edit them to sound like you, then practise out loud.
⚡ 30-second version
🎯 1-minute version (recommended)
📖 2-minute detailed version
The structure interviewers expect
- Present — who you are now: your degree or current role, in one line.
- Past — one or two proof points: a project, internship or result with a number in it.
- Skills — 2–3 skills that match the job description, not a list of ten.
- Future — why this role and this company is the logical next step.
Avoid
- Reciting your resume line by line or starting with your date of birth and family details.
- Going over two minutes — stop and let the interviewer ask follow-ups.
- Weaknesses, salary or “I need a job” reasons in this answer.
